FAQs
How does a Milk Peel work?
The peel works by loosening the bonds between dead skin cells on the surface layer, promoting their natural shedding. This process encourages cellular renewal and stimulates collagen production in the dermis, leaving the skin smoother, brighter, and more hydrated. The salicylic acid component also unclogs pores, while lactic acid adds hydration.
Is the Milk Peel safe for all skin types?
Yes, these peels are considered safe for most skin types, including sensitive skin, as they are superficial and gentle. However, individuals with very reactive or inflamed skin conditions (e.g., active rosacea or eczema) should consult with our Dermal Clinician to determine if it’s suitable.
What should I expect during the procedure?
The treatment is quick, typically lasting 20–30 minutes. After cleansing the skin, the peel solution is applied and left on for a few minutes. You may feel a mild tingling or warming sensation, indicating the peel is working. The peel is then neutralized, and soothing post-care products are applied.
Is there any downtime after a Milk Peel?
There is minimal to no downtime with these peels. Some clients may experience slight redness or mild flaking for a day or two, but this is uncommon. You can return to your regular activities immediately while following recommended aftercare.
How should I prepare for the treatment?
-
Avoid retinol, exfoliants, and harsh active ingredients for 3–5 days before the peel.
-
Protect your skin from the sun and avoid tanning.
-
Discuss any skincare products or treatments you are using with your Dermal Clinician.
What aftercare is required?
-
Apply a post treatment cream to keep the skin hydrated and facilitate repair. We recommend Dermaceutic's K-Ceutic - designed specifically to be used with the Milk Peel.
-
Avoid sun exposure and use a broad-spectrum SPF daily.
-
Refrain from using retinol or exfoliants for at least 5–7 days post-treatment.
-
Avoid hot showers, saunas, or vigorous exercise immediately after the peel.
Who should avoid skin peels?
Individuals with active skin infections, open wounds, severe rosacea, or eczema, as well as those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, should consult with our Dermal Clinician to determine if these peels are suitable.
